The Scott Steadman Promise Project, Misfit Missionaries, in partnership with Highland Support Project will host the Dinner for Hope fundraising event on November 1, 2025, at Fredericksburg United Methodist (FUMC). This year’s event will highlight a rare cultural textile display and a recycled fashion collection that connects heritage and sustainability in an unforgettable evening of culture, cuisine, and community.
Guests will experience an exhibition of 20 handwoven Guatemalan huipiles and ceremonial trajes, garments rich in history and meaning, each telling stories of identity, spirituality, and resilience from the Guatemalan Highlands.
The evening will also feature 10 innovative pieces from designer Guadelupe Ramírez, whose recycled fashion collection debuted in New York City this past February. By transforming discarded clothing into contemporary designs, Ramírez blends traditional artistry with modern sustainability practices, offering a powerful statement on resilience and renewal.
“This is more than a dinner—it’s a cultural journey,” said Guadelupe Ramirez, event organizer. “We are bringing together the threads of tradition and innovation to highlight the beauty of Guatemalan culture while raising funds to build a much-needed school kitchen & cafeteria in Pasacuach, Guatemala.”
The Dinner for Hope will include:
A three-course dinner inspired by “Three Sisters”, traditional flavors.
A silent auction featuring cultural and community-focused items.
A guided textile exhibit with story cards and QR-linked videos for deeper engagement.
Inspiring stories from volunteers and community members working in the Highlands.
All proceeds will support the construction of a school kitchen & cafeteria in Pasacuach, Guatemala, ensuring children have a safe and nourishing space for meals during their school day. Learn more here:
